Q: Can I sleep at the venue?

A: The Catapult offices will be open for the duration of the event. We will provide camping mats, but participants are requested to bring their own sleeping bags/pillows, towels and toiletries - there are shower facilities available. Alternatively, there is a B&B on the Harwell Campus (Ridgeway House by STFC), self-catering Chilton Apartments (http://www.chiltonapartments.co.uk/), or Ridgeway House (http://www.stfc.ac.uk/1442.aspx). We would be happy to negotiate a group rate if there is a requirement.

 

Q: Is food provided?

A: Yes – breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday, and dinner will be provided on Saturday evening. There will also be refreshments, cakes, fruit and sweets available throughout the event.

 

Q: Do I need to have any previous satellite/space knowledge to attend?

A: No - The inventorthon is an event that is designed to attract anyone who is interested in developing new technologies, applications or solutions.  Space or satellite experience is not necessary; some of the best ideas come from people outside the sector!

 

Q: Legal Stuff: please can you explain?

A: Basically, anything you create (applications, solutions and technology), during the event belong to you entirely.  However, any data, code or documentation we have provided for the weekend, is the property of the Catapult or the relevant suppliers. Q: Can I bring my own laptop?

A: Yes, all participant are requested to bring their own laptops, ipads, etc.  Wifi will be provided.

 

Q : How do I get to the Electron Building at the Harwell Campus?

A: The Harwell Campus is located just off the A34 south of Oxford – please see sa.catapult.org.uk/about-us/how-to-find-us for further details. A mini-bus shuttle service will be provided between Didcot Parkway Railway station and the Catapult office on Saturday morning, and a return shuttle on Sunday afternoon.

Q: Are the groups for the Inventorthon prearranged?

A: No, teams are not prearranged. They can be freely formed by the participants on the first day of Hackathon around the interest in responding to the challenges. However you register as a team of two by selecting this option in the registration process.
